Threats to Healthy Elections
The risks of both explicit political interference and severe disruptions caused by Covid-19, as well as the impact of virulent misinformation campaigns, threaten the 2020 election and the American democratic process. David A. Singer, department head and the Raphael Dorman and Helen Starbuck Professor of Political Science at MIT, joined by Adam Berinsky, Mitsui Professor of Political Science at MIT and director of the MIT Political Experiments Research Lab; Charles Stewart III, Kenan Sahin Distinguished Professor of Political Science at MIT; and Chloe Wittenberg, PhD student in American politics at MIT, discuss a variety of threats to a healthy elections process in these unprecedented times and some actions that can be deployed to address and combat these challenges.
